WEST Approach looks set to stick to novice company in the Albert Bartlett rather than take on his elders in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Far from disgraced when third behind Unowhatimeanharrry in the Cleeve Hurdle, he will instead take on the likes of Death Duty and his old foe Wholestone.

With trainer Colin Tizzard and owners John and Heather Snook having to rule Thistlecrack out of the meeting, they are now relying on his younger half-brother.

“I think it looks like we are going to head the Albert Bartlett route,” said assistant trainer Joe Tizzard.

“We purposely protected his novice status last year and however brave John and Heather Snook (owners) are, throwing a novice in the deep end is tough.

“I think with this one he has one chance as a novice and he has got a great chance in the Albert Bartlett.”

Looking at the odds he is great value to have a pop.  He’s a generous 6/1 which given his extra experience and undoubted class may be worth using the great triple odds offer from 888sport. that will make him a nice 18/1 for a £10 punt.  Join here
